Frameworks

Systems and frameworks I have created

Engine
Although technically a Melon project, Engine has existed in various instances since about 2005. In using it for the majority of our CMSable projects, both myself and Melon's web team have had time to develop it with many advanced and intuitive features. This project will never really be complete, as each new client brings new ideas and features to the table that they require. Because of this during its development, Engine has become a very useful framework for its developers, and an invaluable business tool for its users.

Recent developments have included starting from the ground up again, building it to an MVC design, which will make it much more modular and easier to manage than its predecessors. The system will also be made into a central framework to allow multiple sites to run from the same back end source therefore making maintenance and fixes easier to manage. Also rapid deployment for new sites added to the system will be as easy as "creating" and setting up a site from the super users account, and plugging in the front end code.

We are also planning out huge improvements to our media management, and also including a front end API to allow other designers / developers / agencies to license and use the system

Personal Projects

Some projects I have worked on for myself and people I know

Breakthrough Search
Breakthrough Search are an industry leading Executive Sales Search specialist in the IT and Communications markets across the UK and Europe. Their site includes CMS'able news, and vacancies. The vacancies are also tied into a CV submitting system to aid with recruitment enquiries.
JM Photographic
JM Photographic tasked me to create an online image ordering system for their clients. This is a multi user system that allows admins to upload batches of photos and tag them to users. Then users can tag their favourites, or order prints in a range of different options.
Pepper Sphere
Pepper Sphere is a social networking site for creative web users. It is aimed at Artists, Photographers, Writers, Musicians, Film makers, and the Design & Development community. It is a place for people to upload their projects and use the site as both a portfolio and a springboard to promote themselves and their work. As well as CMS it includes media uploading, API integration with popular sites such as Youtube, Facebook, and Twitter, and has both user and site managed sections to showcase individual creatives or projects. The site is currently in very early beta.

Melon Design & Marketing

These sites are all built for the company I work for as my day job. We are an all round digital agency based just outside Milton Keynes, and specialise in web development, and design. All the sites shown are designed by our in house design team, which is then handed over to my web team to code the front end, and plug it into our in house CMS, Engine.

Francis Jackson Homes
Francis Jackson Homes is a family owned housebuilding company specialising in well built traditional homes across the South Midlands. As well as blogs and company news, the site is used to keep track of all the existing developments and properties that Francis Jackson Homes are working on, and their current status. These are viewable via a list, or by an integrated Google Maps with pins and info bubbles of each development. For those interested in a property or development, a built in enquiry system is available.
Intamac
Intamac Systems is a market leader in the delivery of services to the Connected Home, and offer a web-based platform that can integrate a range of products. The project was launched in time for the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The site is packed with information, latest news and blogs, media information, support and downloads as well as investor information and much more.
Melon Creative
This is its 4th major relaunch since I have headed up the web team, which includes a greatly improved design, and content managed by our latest version of Engine. Currently undergoing continual development, and is our flagship website.
Milton Keynes Academy
Used to inform and promote the opening of the new school based in Milton Keynes, with new features and pages going live every month. Again powered by the mighty Engine CMS this website is kept constantly up to date by the academys staff.
Rising Star Games
Rising Star Games is a publisher of next-generation video games across Nintendo and Sony gaming platforms. This is an ongoing development. Some of the previous work includes sign up and membership profiles for site users, integration of Engine with PHPBB, a large CMSable section for games, blogs, news etc to be constantly updated by their team.
Royal Ascot Golf Club
This site is the first of hopefully many Engine Golf package websites. We have tailored a branch of Engine with golf clubs in mind to include many features useful to its members. Among them include pages and imagery of the course(s), club calendar, blogs and news, and a profile style members area.
Somerset College
Developed front end and CMS. Includes large posting approval system, multi user and group permission system, and high traffic enquiry system with PDF mail merging capabilities.
